A weight plateau does not have one explanation. Review the trend over time alongside your nutrition, routines, symptoms and other appropriate measurements before deciding what it means with your healthcare team.
One reading is not a trend
Weight can vary with water, bowel contents and measurement conditions. Compare readings taken consistently over time. A few unchanged days and a sustained plateau are different situations.
Widen the picture
Ask what has changed in your waist measurement, strength, energy, activity and eating pattern. Body-composition information, when appropriate, may add context. None of these measures alone tells the entire story.
Do not assume you must be gaining muscle
A stable scale does not prove that fat loss is being offset by muscle gain. That is one possible explanation in some circumstances, not a conclusion you can draw from weight alone.
Resist making the plan smaller and stricter
If you are already struggling to eat enough, automatically cutting back further may move you away from adequate nourishment. Review your intake and symptoms with an appropriate professional. Medication effectiveness and dose decisions belong with your prescriber.
Choose a useful next step
Bring a short record of your weight trend, routines and questions to your appointment. Coaching can help you organize that picture, identify practical habits to work on and avoid letting one number dictate your entire week.
